Penser Tout Haut
international traveling exhibition
Penser tout haut | Faire l'architecture, is an international travelling exhibition curated by Viennese cultural theorist Elke Krasny intended to offer a rediscovery of the discipline from the intimacy of the design studio that demonstrates through multiple media the reality of how architecture works by presenting the tools used by many professional architectural offices. RVTR participated with Krasny in the early discussions around the conception of the work, and is honored to be included in this group show that debuted in Montreal. Through interviews, design process documents, photographs and artifacts – models, sketches, objects – the exhibition explores the place where architecture begins and asks questions such as: What are the links between architectural conception and production? What are the inspirations for architects, their tools and modes of practice? How does the atmosphere of the architect’s studio and the tools that architects utilize influence the design process and its outcomes? The exhibition, which has traveled to a range of destinations, features 22 international and Canadian architectural practices including Atelier Bow-Wow, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Venturi Scott Brown, UN Studio, Steven Holl, Jona Friedman, Brian McKay Lyons, Patkau Architects, Saucier Perrotte, Shim-Sutcliffe, Richard Kroeker, Lacaton Vassal, Venturi Scott-Brown, Atelier Big City and we are proud to report - RVTR.
